The Pimsleur technique is very well known all over the world simply because it works. It works because without the use of textbooks and graphics it is able to teach you how to speak a practical everyday Spanish. Dr Pimsleur who is a well know linguistic expert says that the way that your mother taught you to speak your mother tongue is a simple technique that has been used for thousands of years and can be applied to any language. Your mother did not sit you down when you were two years old and explain complex sentence construction and verb conjugation. She repeated simple everyday phrases that you learned to understand and apply. Dr Pimsleur explains that these simple everyday phrases are put together or linked by what he calls "function words" which is the key to learning a new language. He says that by learning these "function words" you will soon be able to speak and be understood in another language. The Pimsleur Spanish course is presented in a 9 CD format that you can play while sitting in traffic or waiting in a bus or a train. The simple step by step format will soon have you speaking a conversational Spanish that will make you easily understood.

Funny Quotes Forever

2011
08.07

I remember, as a child, the studies in school that required the memorization of quotes from famous people. You most likely have heard the ones I’m referring to. There are numerous ones that relate to our everyday lives and beliefs. I wonder now why we weren’t required to study the funny quotes of famous people. I assume it’s because of the belief that if a famous quote is funny it can’t be serious. The assumption is correct, but the premise that funny isn’t important is not correct. I don’t believe the world needs to be more serious. Serious matters tend to grow on their own. I believe that funny quotes can be a breath of fresh air, providing a useful balm to the sores of life. Why isn’t that helpful or important? Therefore, the next time a teacher or professor asks you to quote someone famous, try reciting a funny quote from a famous comedian. It will be a refreshing change for everyone.

You're Speaking My Language

2011
07.26

The one thing that remains a constant in this day and age is that we are all diverse. The ever changing world can continue on with its brilliance and newness, but we will always be different, all of us. It can go from styles and culture regions, to colors and hair lengths. What makes us unique is what we take in and spread back out. Language is no different in this instance. It is as wide spread and varied as the people who speak it. It accounts for a lot of ignorance to those who cannot understand it, and it also can open doors for those who share the words and likely the common experiences. Learning the different languages is quite the feat, especially if you’re past a certain age. So if you’re learning Spanish grade 1 or Afrikaans grade 4, you’re going to have your hands full. Despite this, it’s worth the experience if you’re able to connect with at least one more person in this world. Communication has been and ever shall be the key.

Teachers and Students Can Benefit from Online Curriculum

2011

Online curriculum refers to a completely new one of looking at education. Up until now, most textbooks were only available in physical form, and this could get very inconvenient for many students because of the sheer number they had to carry around and how much they weighed. With so much technology available now, however, it is no wonder that the way curriculum is being taught is also evolving to become more convenient and effective to students and teachers alike. Rather than buy heavy and expensive books, teachers can now get online textbooks and use them for teaching the same subject in a completely different way. Because the textbooks are digital, there is more of a possibility for teachers to insert different learning materials as they see fit so that they do not have to adapt their way of teaching to fit the textbook, they can change the textbook to fit their learning methods.
